Jessy Terrero

Jessy Terrero is a Dominican-American director and executive producer for music videos, branded, documentary and scripted content.  Jessy’s most recent project is the Spanish language limited series titled EL GANADOR for Netflix Originals starring the superstar Reggaetón recording artist, Nicky Jam.  Jessy’s music video work has garnered over 11 billion views on YouTube and features the most popular Latin recording artist today including Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Nicky Jam, Maluma, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Pit Bull, Marc Anthony, J Balvin, Romeo Santos, Prince Royce and many others.

Jessy spent his early childhood a few blocks from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York before moving with his family to Jamaica, Queens.  His youth was full of diverse influences informed by his family’s Dominican heritage, his largely African American neighborhood and the Jesuit schools he attended.

Jessy commenced his creative journey as a performer from street dancer to aspiring actor before finding his place behind the camera.  In 1992, Jessy had the opportunity to work on the set of the feature film JUICE.  Inspired by the creative energy of that experience, Jessy began his journey to filmmaker by finding the opportunity to work on the creative development side of music videos.  His collaboration and exposure to directors such as Chris Robinson and Diane Martel afforded him the ability to learn on the job and ultimately to direct his own music videos.  Within a short period of time, Jessy was working with the recording artist, 50 Cent, on the music videos for his breakthrough debut album.  The success of working with 50 Cent lead to Jessy directing his debut feature film titled SOUL PLANE (MGM, 2004) starring Kevin Hart, Tom Arnold, Method Man and cameo appearances by Sofia Vergara and Mo’Nique.

Jessy’s passion for both hip hop music and Latino pop culture led him to pursue working with recording artists who were part of an emerging musical genre called Reggaetón.  Within a few short years, Jessy was directing music videos for the superstars of the genre:  Daddy Yankee, Wisin y Yandel, and Don Omar among many others.  In between working on Reggaetón music videos, Jessy directed two feature films starring 50 Cent: GUN (2010) and FREELANCERS (2012) starring 50 Cent, Robert DeNiro and Forrest Whitaker.  In 2012, Jessy was a partner in the group that was awarded a grant by YouTube to launch the Latin Urban channel titled 123UnoDosTres.  Using that platform, Jessy showcased music, music videos and short form content by new and emerging Latino artists (such as Maluma and Farruko who were to become stars in their own right).

In 2014, Jessy formed Cinema Giants to continue the development and production of Latin Urban content in both Spanish and English languages.  More recent projects include the follow documentary series titled ASHLEE + EVAN for E! Entertainment that was released this past September 2018 and the company has released a feature length documentary film about Maluma released on June 5, 2019 by YouTube Originals.
