With them, he also directed the series "What's Good in your hood", a Hyundai-sponsored project which highlighted immigration stories through the local food scenes of various neighborhoods. In 2015 Álvaro produced the short documentary "Gotta Serve Somebody", about the life of a recovering gang-member in East LA, which was awarded the 1st price in the international Showing Film Festival, held in Madrid. In 2018, Alvaro collaborated with celebrity chefs Jaime & Ramiro to adapt their recipe books into a series of vibrant videos for social media. Alvaro has also recently published his first book, a long-form narrative essay titled "A migrant's musings", about the migrant caravans arriving in the city of Tijuana, where he resides.
